VPLS is a Layer 2 VPN solution that allows multiple sites to be connected over a shared Layer 3 network. However, VPLS does not support overlapping IP subnets. This means that each site must have its own unique IP subnet.
To connect multiple sites with the same IP subnet using VPLS, the engineer must use address translation (NAT) to hide the overlapping subnets. This can be done on either the customer side (CE) or the service provider (SP) side.
