A Trusted Platform Module securely stores cryptographic keys in hardware and performs cryptographic operations, protecting keys from exposure and tampering.

Asymmetric encryption uses a key pair consisting of a public key and a private key. The public key can be openly shared, while the private key remains secret with the owner. This design allows two parties to securely exchange data without first sharing a private secret, because data encrypted with the public key can only be decrypted by the corresponding private key. This enables secure communication and key exchange over untrusted networks.

Isolation limits exposure by restricting the application's interaction to only necessary services, reducing risk when patching is no longer possible.

A third-party audit report (such as a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification) provides independent validation of the vendor's security controls and assurance of its security posture.
