A network policy in Snowflake is used to restrict access to the Snowflake account from unauthorized or unknown sources. It allows administrators to specify allowed IP address ranges, thus preventing access from any IP addresses not listed in the policy1.

The Snowflake storage layer is responsible for storing data in an optimized, compressed, columnar format.
This includes micro-partitions, which are the fundamental storage units that contain the actual data stored in Snowflake. Additionally, persisted query results, which are the results of queries that have been materialized and stored for future use, are also kept within this layer. This design allows for efficient data retrieval and management within the Snowflake architecture1.
