Preferred Backup Node: The "Preferred" configuration is used to specify that the backup should prioritize a specific node, typically a passive node, to reduce the performance impact on the active node serving users.
Logic: If the preferred node is available and contains a healthy passive copy of the database, the backup is taken from there. If the database only has a single active copy (no passive copies exist or are healthy), PPDM will default to backing up that active copy to ensure data protection, regardless of the preferred setting.

The Backint for SAP HANA interface is a specialized API that allows PowerProtect Data Manager to communicate directly with the SAP HANA database for backup and recovery operations.
Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR): The most significant advantage of the Backint integration is the ability to perform a Point-in-Time recovery. Because Backint manages both the data backups and the continuous transaction log backups, the SAP HANA Studio or Cockpit can request a restore to a specific timestamp.
Process: PPDM restores the most relevant full backup and then automatically streams the necessary transaction logs to roll the database forward to the exact second requested by the administrator.
