The NetApp Console agent is required for deploying and managing Cloud Volumes ONTAP in AWS. It provides the management and orchestration functionality needed to create and operate Cloud Volumes ONTAP instances in the cloud environment.

Automatic switchover for SnapMirror active sync relies on the ONTAP Mediator. The mediator continuously monitors both clusters and quorum status, and when it detects a site disaster, it coordinates an automatic switchover to ensure continued data access without manual intervention.

SnapMirror and other intercluster replication traffic uses intercluster LIFs, and each node participating in replication must have intercluster LIFs available in the correct IPspace for the target cluster. After adding a new HA pair, you must create intercluster LIFs for the new nodes in both IPspaces used to reach Cluster B and Cluster C so replication can originate from the new HA pair to each destination.
