They achieve this by conducting workshops, shadowing sessions, and interviews with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the Client Team. They then document the As-Is process and help define the To-Be state, collaborating closely with the Solution Architect to ensure feasibility and completeness.
The Business Analyst is also instrumental inidentifying automation candidates, validatingbusiness value, and definingsuccess criteriaandUAT scenarios. Their business-focused insights are essential in building automations that deliver real value and meet the organization's objectives.

TheFuture-State (To-Be) processis designed during theSolution Designstage. This is where theSolution Architect, in collaboration with developers and other stakeholders, translates the current (As-Is) process into an optimized automated workflow.
Key tasks in this stage include:
* Designing the To-Be process flow
* Identifying reusable modules
* Defining exception handling and data logic
* Finalizing the infrastructure and integration approach
TheSolution Design Document (SDD)produced in this stage serves as the detailed roadmap for development.
The design ensures that automation is technically sound, aligned with business goals, and ready for efficient development and deployment.

TheAutomation Developeris primarily responsible forbuilding automationsbased on the business requirements that have been analyzed and documented in theProcess Definition Document (PDD)and further detailed in theSolution Design Document (SDD).
Using UiPath Studio and related tools, the developer creates workflows that follow best practices, coding standards, and modular architecture. They also implement exception handling, data manipulation, integration with applications, and orchestrator configurations as required.
In addition to development, they participate inunit testing,User Acceptance Testing (UAT)support, and Hypercare, making adjustments based on feedback or defects found. Their role is critical in turning the design into a functional automation solution that meets business expectations.

In theProcess Assessment Tool, theComplexity Assessmentfocuses on evaluating how difficult it is to automate a given process. One of the primary factors assessed under this category isthe number of screens, steps, and decision pointsinvolved in the process. The more steps or screens a process contains, the more complex it becomes from an automation standpoint.
Processes with a long sequence of actions, dynamic user interfaces, multiple system interactions, or several branches and exceptions require more development time, additional testing, and potentially more advanced logic or modular designs. This increases both development effort and long-term maintenance.
Other aspects of complexity may include the level of unstructured data, the number of applications being used, exception variability, and how frequently business rules change. However, the direct indicator of complexity captured in the tool is thenumber of steps or screens, as this provides a measurable representation of the automation workload.
Evaluating complexity early ensures accurate project scoping, risk assessment, and prioritization. It also helps determine whether a process is better suited for early automation waves (simple processes) or later ones (more complex automations requiring higher maturity).

The primary output of theProcess Analysisstage is theProcess Definition Document (PDD). This document captures a detailed description of theAs-Is process, including process steps, roles involved, input/output data, exception scenarios, and system interactions.
TheBusiness AnalystandSolution Architectwork closely with the Client Team to observe the current process and document it in a structured and comprehensive format. The PDD serves as the foundation for defining the scope, identifying automation opportunities, and creating the future To-Be design.
A well-documented PDD ensures that the implementation team fully understands what is being automated and helps in developing accurate test cases for UAT and success criteria for deployment approval.
