When a Real-time Protection policy blocks all activities to non-corporate S3 buckets, it can inadvertently affect websites that use Amazon S3 as a content delivery or asset hosting platform. These websites load images, JavaScript files, and other static assets from S3 URLs, which are classified under the Cloud Storage category rather than as direct S3 application traffic. To resolve this without weakening the S3 tenant restriction policy, a new Real-time Protection policy should be created to allow the Browse activity specifically for the Cloud Storage category. This allows pass-through access to web content hosted on cloud storage platforms while still blocking direct upload or download activities to unauthorized S3 buckets.
Allowing Browse on the Amazon S3 application only would be too narrow and may not cover all affected CDN and asset-hosting behaviors.

When the Netskope Client is deployed with CASB traffic steering enabled but no Real-time Protection policies have been configured, all steered traffic passes through Netskope's proxy infrastructure without any policy action applied. In this default state, Netskope allows all traffic through but continues to log all observed events for visibility purposes. This default allow-and-log behavior is intentional, ensuring that organizations can begin collecting telemetry and understanding their cloud usage patterns before implementing enforcement policies. Traffic is neither blocked nor silently passed without logging; every transaction is recorded in Skope IT and Advanced Analytics. This approach supports a phased deployment strategy where visibility precedes enforcement, giving administrators time to tune policies before going into block mode.

When multiple DLP profiles are combined into a single Real-time Protection policy, Netskope evaluates the file against all included profiles simultaneously. If the file matches more than one DLP profile, the policy engine applies the most restrictive action defined within the policy and generates a single DLP incident that references all matched profiles. This behavior allows security teams to see comprehensive match information without creating policy sprawl across multiple individual policies. Creating separate policies for each DLP profile would result in multiple independent incidents but would also complicate policy management and potentially cause inconsistent enforcement due to policy ordering. Consolidating profiles into a single policy is the recommended approach when unified action and centralized incident tracking are required.

When validating GRE tunnel configuration and traffic flow, administrators have two primary methods available. First, the local router or network device sending traffic through the GRE tunnel can be used to verify that keepalive acknowledgments are being received from the Netskope side, confirming that the tunnel is active and bidirectional traffic is flowing correctly. Second, the Netskope UI provides a GRE tunnel status view under Settings > Security Cloud Platform > GRE, where the tunnel status and traffic metrics are visible from the tenant perspective. While the Netskope Trust Portal provides platform-wide service availability information, it does not display individual tenant-specific tunnel status. Using both the local device and the Netskope UI together provides comprehensive validation of tunnel health.
