The Cloud Ticket Orchestrator (CTO) module is specifically designed to automate the creation of ITSM service tickets based on Netskope alerts and events of interest. This allows security operations teams to automatically generate incidents or trouble tickets in platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira when predefined security conditions are met, reducing manual SOC workload and ensuring timely escalation of critical events. The Cloud Risk Exchange (CRE) module handles risk score normalization, while the Cloud Log Shipper handles event forwarding, and Cloud Threat Exchange manages IOC sharing between security tools.

When an SSL Decryption policy is configured in Netskope with the intent to bypass inspection for specific web categories, two common misconfigurations can result in the policy not functioning as expected. The first is selecting an incorrect category; for example, selecting "Financial Services" as a category does not automatically cover all banking websites, as some may fall under different category classifications within the Netskope Cloud Confidence Index (CCI). The second issue is specifying an incorrect action; the SSL bypass policy requires the action to be set to "Do Not Decrypt," and if the action is mistakenly set to "Decrypt," traffic will continue to be inspected. A disabled or pending-changes state would affect all policies broadly, not specifically the banking-related traffic.

Netskope's Cloud Sandbox performs dynamic analysis on suspicious files to detect zero-day malware and advanced threats. When the sandbox identifies a malicious file, the detection is recorded as a malware event with the detection engine field set to "Netskope Cloud Sandbox." To view all instances of sandbox-detected malware, the administrator should navigate to Incidents > Malware in the Netskope tenant UI and apply the filter query: detection_engine eq 'Netskope Cloud Sandbox'. This scopes the results to only those malware incidents identified specifically by the sandbox engine, excluding signature-based or machine learning-based detections. Skope IT Alerts and Page Events would contain some event data but are not the primary and structured location for malware incident investigation and reporting.

By default, Netskope's steering configuration includes pre-defined exceptions for certain application domains and cloud services to prevent disruption during initial deployments. One of these default exceptions includes a steering bypass for Microsoft's cloud storage domains, which effectively prevents OneDrive traffic from being inspected by Netskope. If Real-time Protection policies for OneDrive are not being enforced despite being correctly configured, the most likely cause is that a default steering exception is bypassing the traffic before it reaches the policy engine. Removing the default steering exception for these domains ensures that OneDrive traffic is properly tunneled to Netskope and subjected to policy evaluation. Disabling SSL rules or modifying certificate-pinned application settings would not resolve a fundamental steering bypass issue.

When IPsec tunnels are used to steer on-premises traffic to Netskope, traffic steering bypass exceptions configured within the Netskope tenant UI are not applicable to traffic that arrives via the tunnel. This is because the Netskope tenant's steering exceptions only control how the Netskope Client steers traffic from endpoints; they have no effect on traffic that is already being forwarded via IPsec from a network edge device. For IPsec tunnel deployments, any traffic bypass or exception must be applied at the edge network device such as a firewall or router before the traffic enters the tunnel. This is a fundamental architectural distinction between client-based and tunnel-based deployment models that directly impacts how steering exceptions are configured and managed.
